to Comicsfondle:
a graphic novel compiles a comic series or complete run.

Wrong, graphic novel means that it was one long comic book when it came out, of which Watchman is not. Watchman was a limited series that is often reprinted into a trade paperback. That is a collection of a series.

Is the Lord of the Rings a trilogy or just one big novel? It has been published both ways but was intended by the author to be one book. Charles Dickens also had his works serialized but nobody would argue against calling them novels when published as one single story. Stephen King's Green Mile is another example--originally a novel published in multiple parts, now compiled into one volume. But it is a stand alone story released in sections and not an ongoing series.

I just want to say that I think it's completely insane that this site censors the name Charles Dickens.

Wrong Comic Fan: Watchmen Is a graphic novel in that the serialized format it was published foresaw it publication in a collected form . Watchmen was always meant to be read in a collected form. You people need to read more.

if you were a real "comic fan" you'd know it's WATCHMEN, not WATCHMAN.:P pfff. but your explanation was right. they should just say the most celebrated tpb of all time. (even though no one knew about it or even celebrated it until the trailer came out)
