J.K. Simmons Returning for Spider-Man 4

Although it's not really news that Spider-Man 4 will start shooting in 2010 as this report at MTV highlights (director Sam Raimi himself said previously that filming would start by March of 2010), it is good to hear that J.K. Simmons will be returning:

The fourth film in the blockbuster "Spider-Man" franchise will begin shooting in 2010, actor J.K. Simmons told MTV News at Sundance, revealing that he'll continue in the role of Daily Bugle publisher J. Jonah Jameson. "I saw Sam [Raimi] at his Christmas party."

The fourth installment is expected to hit theaters in May of 2011. In October of '08, it was announced that playwright David Lindsay-Abaire (upcoming Inkheart) would write the script. James Vanderbilt wrote an earlier draft.

Somehow, years after spidey fever, there is no more the same excitement for a new installement in the series...news about a background character returning for a new batman movie will be exciting these years...but because its about J.K Simmons, who never lost his charm as J.J....Its good news...

So it IS happening...I'm glad that they've spent a long time working on the script. I hope that it all comes out well in the end.

We need more info than the obvious return of JJ before we can decide whether to be excited or not, thats for sure.

The Spider-Man series has never really been than good in my opinion. The first one was so successful because thar was the first time audience were introduced with a big budget live-action Spider-Man. But it was clunky at best, with a plot that is both herky-jerky and bumbling. The second one is the best in the series, with a storyline that most of all could care about. The third one stumbled and spiralled out of control. They didn't have a solid and coherent plot in the first place. Everyhting was just like a copy paste process of who should be thrown in the mix.
Hopefully, they'll do something nice that would reinvigorate my interest in Spidey 4.

Glad to hear they are continuing Spidey. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be crap like the last one.

Ian McShane as Kraven. Just look at Al Swearengen. he's a dead ringer.

No, The Lizard, Electro, Carnage, or the Hobgoblin all before Kraven! I like Kraven, I just can't stand the Chameleon. Hengky unfortunately doesn't know what he's talking about, it's just utter nonsense!

I love Spidey, but I find myself less than enthralled about any Marvel film that will not lend itself to the "universe" that Marvel Studios has created.
