No More Nick Fury for Samuel L. Jackson?

Samuel L. Jackson, who made a cameo appearance as Nick Fury in Iron Man, tell the Los Angeles Times that talks about him returning to the role in future Marvel Studios have broken down:

"There was a huge kind of negotiation that broke down. I don't know. Maybe I won't be Nick Fury. Maybe somebody else will be Nick Fury or maybe Nick Fury won't be in it. There seems to be an economic crisis in the Marvel Comics world so [they're saying to me], 'We're not making that deal.'"

I called Marvel Comics and they gave me a statement that suggested that they still want to see Jackson wearing the eyepatch. "Marvel does not comment on active negotiations," was the boilerplate repsonse, but there was that emphasis on the word "active" in the voice of the spokesman who phoned me back.

I agree. If they keep taking out players from the first movie they're just gonna shoot themselves in the foot. It becomes distracting.

That sucks so much. Having Sam Jackson in the part is not only awesome for the character, it's awesome for Fans and viewings numbers. People will flock to see Sam Jackson films, and ontop of that he's playing a badass Action Hero?

Have ya seen the spirit Sam has alot of stinkers. And Don CHeadle is replacing howard. May i say Cheadle is far better actor.
My hope is that Laowrence Fishburn will pick up the eye patch for a better Nick Fury or MCD even.

i totally agree with My God- if Marvel keeps changing out characters...it might as well be a reboot, it will become to distracting. No one else can play Fury at this point, they already established that the movie Fury is going to be the Ultimates version of Fury and not a white fury with grey sideburns... hell the Ultimates Fury was even drawn in the likeness of Jackson...there is even a scene in the Ultimates where the superheroes are talking about who would play them in a movie adaptation and Fury says "of course no one but Samuel L. Jackson..."

Marvel we gave you our money...we liked the risks you took with Iron Man and the Hulk...lets maintain some continuity..

How can he not be in it? Sam Jackson is in every movie that Hollywood cranks out. If he bolts, it means the end of the world is nigh. Mark my words... Secret Invasion...

So basically Samuel L Jackson wants lots of money for doing it, and thinks he has the leverage to hold out because the fans want to see him in it.

And Marvel aren't budging.

Fair play to Marvel I say... Let's just bring David Hasslehoff back.

Well that would suck wouldn't it? Cast Michael Biehn. He'd be perfect. That way we could see him in Captain America with his Howling Commandos.

C'mon Marvel. There are some serious *******s running the show over there. The success of Iron Man really has gone to their narrow minded heads.
