Radha Mitchell in The Crazies Remake

January 12, 2009

ShockTillYouDrop.com says that Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill, upcoming Surrogates) will star opposite Timothy Olyphant in Overture's The Crazies, scheduled for a September 25 release.

A reinvention loosely based upon the George Romero classic, The Crazies is about the inhabitants of a small Pennsylvania town beset by death and insanity after a secret biological weapon makes its way into their water supply.

Breck Eisner will direct.

Seems like Rahda Mitchell has a thing for crazies in small towns, the situation sounds similar to what she did in the Silent Hill movie.

I own both the original and remake of The Hills Have Eyes and despite the fact that Wes Craven was the man behind the first one and a few retro qualities about it, the remake exceeds it on all the levels that Craven tried to make it "extreme". Aside from the social commentary it was simply a "shocker" horror flick that didn't date well at all.

That aside...I've have rather had Brad Anderson direct The Crazies as originally reported a few years ago.

Ark-Angel... I'm praying that what you said was a clever stab at resident evil 3 for completely ripping off day of the dead... I have a feeling on the other hand that you that it wasn't and that you're comment was serious... that in mind...
Resident Evil 4????? have you ever seen the origional crazies??? you just made yourself sound retarded... like really retarded. For one, Resident evil 4 exists already... It's a CGI movie called Resident Evil: Degeneration... and it was just as terrible as the rest of them. Two, the movie has a completely differnet feeling then a "resident evil" movie... Three, Shut the fu.ck up... you're an idiot

I'm pretty excited about this, i am a huge fan of Timothy Olyphant, and i loved the original Crazies.

Why do modern films have to cast pretty people in remakes? The original had some pretty average looking folk, and that's what made it, and others like TTCM, Amityville et al, ahem more realistic.
The original had a strong idea, it just needed to be executed better, this could do it.
