TheBadandUgly.com has posted the first image and poster of Jim Carrey in Disney's A Christmas Carol, written/directed by Robert Zemeckis (The Polar Express) and coming to conventional theaters and IMAX on November 6.

In the 3-D performance capture film, Ebenezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey) begins the Christmas holiday with his usual miserly contempt, barking at his faithful clerk (Gary Oldman) and his cheery nephew (Colin Firth). But when the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come take him on an eye-opening journey revealing truths Old Scrooge is reluctant to face, he must open his heart to undo years of ill will before it's too late. Colin Firth, Bob Hoskins, Robin Wright Penn, Cary Elwes and Fionnula Flanagan co-star.

Looks good, and it probably will be a very good movie, but if their going for realistic CG looking people and sets, why not film it for real.

That would make sense, seeing as Robert Zemeckis directed the Back To The Future movies. I wouldn't mind them remaking or re-releasing that trilogy!

Looks pretty good, lookin forward to this.

Also in response to "Dissent" above...I hope that if there is a god somewhere above us that he keeps them from remaking Back to the Future and u should be ashamed of yourself, especially if u call yourself a fan, for even thinking thats a good idea.

Remaking successful movies is pointless. Just look at Psycho, Halloween, and the soon to come Friday the 13th (with few exceptions like Dawn of the Dead), as well as the possible Karate Kid with Jaden Smith. A Back to the Future remake would probably cast Miley Cyrus as the lead with her dad playing a younger, hipper Doc.

"A Christmas Carol" is my favorite holiday story. I like most versions of it (including Scrooged). I can't wait to see this one.

Because, dts, mocap adds an immediate sense of fantasy and magic, one that film can only capture if it was heavily saturated.
