At the motion picture box office, there is one man who keeps showing that nobody does it better: Bond. James Bond.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures'/Columbia Pictures' Quantum of Solace, the 22nd James Bond adventure, has taken in over $167.1 million to become the most successful Bond film of all time in North America, surpassing the $167 million grossed domestically by Casino Royale, it was announced today by Jeff Blake, chairman of Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing and Distribution. The film is still playing in 891 theaters in the United States.

In addition, Quantum of Solace has grossed another $382.9 internationally, with the important market of Japan still yet to open. Taking in a worldwide gross so far of $550 million, Quantum of Solace is already the second-highest grossing Bond film of all time worldwide, trailing just "Casino's" $594.2 million.

Commenting on the announcement, Blake said, "It is always gratifying when the audience responds to a film, but to be working with a character as successful as James Bond and see the two films Sony has handled become the two most successful films in the history of the franchise makes us all tremendously proud. It has been a special thrill to work on the Bond films, and we couldn't be more excited by the success of 'Quantum of Solace.'"

Craig is not the worst Bond and he in no way rips of Bourne. Bond is now what Flemming wrote him to be. If you remember back to Dr.No and Connery's first few Bond films, you will remember Connery as an ice cold man. Of course in the 60's it was cutting edge. As far as Quantum, I think more scrpit would have been nice but you have to love how they humanize him and "M". As for people saying its the worst bond movie, you obviously have not seen Moonraker. It's not in the top five Bond movies but the movie does what it is meant to, it adds a turning point in a freshly invented franchise. I do agree with that the action was overshadowed by the bumpy camera work but that is not a Bourne rip off. Many modern movies have been doing it that way, including Goldeneye! (watch the fist-fight between James and Alec. I also think its refreshing to see Bond bleed and get hurt! He hasnt shed a drop of blood since goldeneye! Ian flemming's young bond was a brute ice cold assassin who was charming because he had so little to say. The worst 007 movies are: Moonraker, On her majesty's secret Service,Die another day.

Never cared much for James Bond (but preferred Sean Connery from the older films). But Daniel Craig converted me. "Casino Royale" was the first Bond film I ever bought. I haven't had the chance to see "Quantum of Solace" but I plan to do so. He and Sean are the only two TRUE Bond men.

well..i personally do not believe in a "worst" james bond, as all of the actors did a fine job in portraying bond in their own unique way. Connery was brash, straightfoward and debonair, Moore was lighthearted, charming, and funny. Dalton introuduced some real seriousness to the role, Brosnan was a combo of Dalton and Moore, and Craig is simply more violent, human, and vernurable (spelling) Heck, even Lazemby brought a new sense of athleticism into his one portrayal as bond (he did all the stuntwork himself in OYMSS). by the way, i immensely enjoyed QoS, even though i liked Royale a tad better. QoS was by no means the worst film, as a matter of fact, i'd put it on my top 10 bond flicks.

QOS is a decent Bond movie. I would rank it in the middle of the bunch. In terms of ticket sales, Thunderball is the biggest Bond movie of all time, with Goldfinger second. Even though Lazenby is often panned, I thought On Her Majesty's Secret Service was one of the best Bond films.

I thought this was one of the worst. It was a fantasy of a fantasy with a weak story and far too many special effects in an era of too many special effects.

Hands down the worst Bond movie ever made. This is the first Bond movie where I did not understand the plot from beginning to end. This was a complete hack job. Not to mention the cinematography was flat out terrible. You've read about when children look at flashing images on TV, it can cause seizures. All the chase and fight scenes were just like that, moved so fast, the human eye could not keep up, and I'm still pretty young. Al most got a headache trying to following the chase sequences. Craig is good for the Bond character, but the stories have gotten worse over the years. Some of the other Bond movies may not have had strong plots, but at least you understood them.

Quantum of Solace is the worst Bond film ever and Daniel Craig does not bring out any humour or English suaveness. In fact it was not only the worst Bond film ever, but it was a very bad movie in any case. However bad some of the old Bond films may have been e.g. Octo ***** and the Man With The Golden Gun for example, they still had a plot, they still had a story, and people with brains in their head and structured minds and a little romanticism could easily follow the story and liked it. With these new films particularly Quantum of Solace it's all about effects and nothing more - and having watched this latest one, I just felt as though I'd seen any old movie, I did not have that special tinge I had every time I'd seen a Bond movie even if it is for the 1000th time. The new Bond era has done away with the very things that made it appealing: Q Branch, M and the usual appointment before Bond setting off on his trip, Moneypenny, Women (the Bond girls roles in the new era movies believe wrongly that they are women, but I would call them those super-imposed sci-fi androgynous looking girlies who I wouldn't sleep with not if they were the last female specimens on this planet).

In short in order for the whole James Bond thing to show respect for the entire journey made from Dr No right up to Quantum of Solace, the journey should stop here and another film never be made. It's a bit like U2 who really had amazing music and albums but all they have been producing / writing over the last 10 years has been complete and utter rubbish.

Anyway one may agree or disagree with what I've said, just my two cents.

i agree it is the best bond movie ever!

I think that you need a good psychiatrist like all those who believe that this any old action movie was the best Bond film ever....Presumably you were born in 1995 and think so since all your lives today are glued behind action movies and action games based on high-tech rubbish and killing.
