At the motion picture box office, there is one man who keeps showing that nobody does it better: Bond. James Bond.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures'/Columbia Pictures' Quantum of Solace, the 22nd James Bond adventure, has taken in over $167.1 million to become the most successful Bond film of all time in North America, surpassing the $167 million grossed domestically by Casino Royale, it was announced today by Jeff Blake, chairman of Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing and Distribution. The film is still playing in 891 theaters in the United States.

In addition, Quantum of Solace has grossed another $382.9 internationally, with the important market of Japan still yet to open. Taking in a worldwide gross so far of $550 million, Quantum of Solace is already the second-highest grossing Bond film of all time worldwide, trailing just "Casino's" $594.2 million.

Commenting on the announcement, Blake said, "It is always gratifying when the audience responds to a film, but to be working with a character as successful as James Bond and see the two films Sony has handled become the two most successful films in the history of the franchise makes us all tremendously proud. It has been a special thrill to work on the Bond films, and we couldn't be more excited by the success of 'Quantum of Solace.'"

This movie definitely not the worst bond, that being said, it wasn't as good as casino royal, hopefully they will change directors for the next one.

Roger Moore brought a warmth and humor to the bond films that hasn't been seen since. He is in no way the worst Bond, in fact he is the best. Daniel Craig plays a good action star but he only intermittently seems like James Bond.

Each actor interprets James Bond in there own way. Craig's Bond is the closest to Ian Fleming's vision of the MI6 agent. So how does that "only intermittently seem like James Bond"?

anyone who thinks QOS was the worst Bond film needs to rewatch all the bond films of the 80's and 90's.
I think it was good, not great. Casino Royale was far superior. While Casino Royale got rid of the campiness of the old films, QOS did stray a little too far away from the Bond formula. Hopefully they'll introduce a Q or a Moneypenny, or make Bond slightly swankier. He needs to grow into the tux in the next film.

But yeah, ticket sales went up, and it was an expensive film that didn't break even in the US market (not even counting advertising), so I don't know how profitable this film really was.

What I don't get is how people are upset with the new style of Bond.

Guess what? after 20 movies (not including CR and QOS) you tend to run out of ideas. So what do they do? Go Back to basics and come up with new plot devices to entertain fans and move on with the franchise.

Seriosuly if they continued down the road with new gadgets, Bond would be 3 steps away from an invisible flying Jet (Wonder woman anyone?)

I agree that QoS was shot TERRIBLY, I had a headache 3 minutes in. But If anyone can look me in the eye and say that there was no action, then they are lieing. Within the first 10 minutes there were 2 chases and a fight, not to mention the Battle Royale at the end.

I think if you are attatched to the old films, start going to these newer movies with a more open mind. Of course you'll be upset if you go into a movie and expect something else. Start thinking of it as an Action moive, instead of a bond film. You'll get more out of it then.

It amazes me that hardcore band fans had a petition to not use the new BLONDE bond. Which obivously they failed as predicted cause the movie was still being made. Yet the blonde bond (who everyone thought would suck) ending up making his version of bond making the most money. I think the reason why this blonde bond is so successful is that he finally uses daring action scenes that the other didn't attempt to do themsleves. Cause the other bonds used alot of stuntmen.

oh holy f**k. stop saying this the worst bond film ever. it most certainly was not (and neither was man with the golden gun, that **** was great.) watch a view to a kill or moonraker, and then come back here and tell me that QoS is worse than those films. and for anyone who says that daniel craig killed the franchise, you're crazy. it may be a very dramatic change from what we're used to, but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing. he's still got the essence of bond, and that's what matters.
