McG to Direct 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

Terminator Salvation helmer McG will direct 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo, a family film that is being fast tracked by Walt Disney Pictures.

Variety says that Sean Bailey (Tron) is producing with McG's Wonderland Sound and Vision.

Written by Bill Marsilli, the film is an origin story of Nemo as he creates his warship, the Nautilus. The characters come from the Jules Verne novel.

The 1954 original 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was the first live-action film made by Walt Disney, became the second-highest grossing film that year and won three Oscars.

Though "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" is expected to be McG's next film, he is in discussions to supervise development and direct the next installment of "Terminator."

Another crappy remake? Did you people not read the story? It is the origin of Nemo, NOT a remake. Did you not read the article deathtotheridder.net? You asked "isn't there a 'leagues' movie already? Um YEAH!, there is, and it clearly talks about it in the article. You guys should read the story first before wasting space on here.

Prediction: Disney gleefully turns down any further sequels of the Narnia Chronicles, so that it can fund a craptacular pre-quel re-imagining of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, and the box office returns shall prove pathetic and dismal, highlighing the schizophrenic delusional behavior that has overtaken the Disney studio heads. Delicious.

And over-rated McG gradually slides into banality and obscurity.
