Exclusive: Boyle and Aronofsky on The Wrestler

Fox Searchlight Pictures recently had Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle and The Wrestler director Darren Aronofsky screen each other's movie and then sit down and have an honest, open conversation with each other about their work. In this video, which is Part 5 of 7 total, the two talk about Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei's performances in The Wrestler.

Pretty cool. Danny is an amazing director. I love Underworld who scores some of his films. Blends amazingly.

two of the best guys in the game right now. All they needed to complete it is Fincher.

Unfortunately this is a very untrue statement. Whilst they both have a record of making good movies, both have too few on their list to be considered the top.

Aronofsky has only 4 films. I've only seen Requiem and The Fountain, both of which were good (Requiem is a masterpiece), and I want to see The Wrestler.

Boyle has some of my favourite films in his portfolio, such as Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, The Beach and Sunshine, but again, those make up more than half of his entire filmography.

Although I agree both directors have the potential to be among the great, they haven't quite reached that status yet.

Its not the quantity that matters, its the quality...and these two directors have proven themselves worthy of being two of our current best filmmakers

Two of the greats working today. It is a very true statement.
And it's because they don't do a lot, they choose they're projects carefully.
And that's not always the case that they choose, these guys do get held back because of production problems.
Next to Gilliam and Fincher these guys are in a group of movie saints.

just saw this movie and all i can say is DAMN,
everyone must see the wrestler its an incredible movie 10 of 10 with me story's amazing directing is awesome acting is incredible marisa tomie is smoking hot and to me I love rourke's performance in sin city this movie just took it to the next level.
