David Fincher's anticipated The Curious Case of Benjamin Button opens on Christmas Day and in the following clip, Cate Blanchett talks about her preparation for playing Daisy and you'll get to watch a scene from the film.

"Benjamin Button," adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is about a man (Brad Pitt) who is born in his eighties and ages backwards: a man, like any of us, who is unable to stop time. We follow his story, set in New Orleans from the end of World War I in 1918, into the 21st century, following his journey that is as unusual as any man's life can be.

Just saw this movie again last night and it really floored me. Definitely Fincher's masterpiece... none of his previous movies can prepare you for this one.

SPOLERS
I saw this movie last week. Way too long.

What was the point of the hurricane? It didn’t add anything to the story and it was just distracting. I though his daughter may end up being moved by the story of her father and help people or make some kind of a difference, but nope. Here comes Katrina….fade to back.

If he were aging backwards, why would he shrink into a baby when he gets old? He was born a baby, but his body had all the symptoms of age, but he grew up like normal and just appeared younger and younger. OK fine I can get that, but to shrink back into a baby? Huh? He is a baby twice? That was ridiculous.

What was with all the affairs in the movie? It is OK to cheat on your spouse because this old guy is interesting? You can cheat on your new husband with your old husband?
Why was the mom not married to her “friend”? For a church going woman in the South that seemed unrealistic.
For a movie about the human soul, it seemed to lack any values.

The biggest disconnect of the movie was that every knew about Buttons and his condition and in three hours there was never a mention on how this is amazing and the media would love talk to him. Nobody mentions that doctors would love to poke and prod him. Nobody ever took him to the doctor to try to help him? You couldn’t have one scene in three hours?

It was a cute story, but it what was it? If a movie is going to be three hours long, than it should say something. I’m not sure if this movie did. Love people for who they are on the inside. That may have been the point, but why did buttons leave his family then? It wouldn’t matter what he looked like right? Why did his wife say it was good that he left if LOVE is all that matters? The movie is just too unrealistic with its portals of love to make a point about love.
