UGO has debuted the second poster for Screen Gems' Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, coming to theaters on January 23. You can view the first poster here.

"Rise of the Lycans" delves into the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires, known as Death Dealers, and the barbaric Lycans (werewolves). A young Lycan, Lucian (Michael Sheen), emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor (Bill Nighy), the cruel vampire king who has persecuted them for hundreds of years. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, the beautiful vampire Sonja (Rhona Mitra), in his battle to free the Lycans from their brutal enslavement.

I'm guessing some of the non movie buffs are going to think this is Kate Beckinsale when they go and see this flick.

She should look like Kate Beckinsale. Remember, Viktor took in Selene as his adopted daughter because she looked a lot like his real daughter...

It looks more like concept art from the first movie. Sad movie companies trying to pull one over on us. Focus on good story not face drops in a movie.

This is strange. I like the Underworld movies, and I look forward to this one. But this poster doesn't make sense to me.
1. It's not about the character Selene, right?
So why did they doctor this photo to make Rhona Mitra look like Selene if she is not that character.

2. The image is strange and doesn't seem like a good representation of the concept. There is nothing "Rise of the Lycans" about it.

3. The concept and premise they've been promoting has been about Lucian and his mission, but again they show this as the poster.

4. The picture is completely uninteresting, there is nothing compelling about it.

I still look forward to this movie, but they really need to get their marketing to make sense.

I do find it odd that a movie subtitled "Rise of the Lycans" has a vampire on its one-sheet.
