Kenneth Branagh Talks Thor

MTV got a chance to talk to Valkyrie Kenneth Branagh on Saturday about directing Marvel Studios' upcoming Thor adaptation, scheduled for a July 16, 2010 release. Here's a clip:

So what's the appeal of "Thor," Kenneth? "To work on a story about one of the immortals, Gods, extraordinary beings, inter-dimensional creatures," he enthused.

He continued excitedly, "There's science fiction and science fact and fantasy all woven into one. It's based on Norse legends which Marvel sort of raided in a brilliant way."

Branagh I trust will bring an elegance that Thor needs in order to be taken seriously.

Needs to stick with Kirby-esque Thor as much as possible...in style and theme. Odin's blood, anything less would be treason!

Frankenstein with DeNiro was amazing. This should be good too.

I hope this is going to be as interesting as it sounds right now. I have a strange feeling that the direction they're taking 'Thor' is going to be on an 'epic' scale...

Imagine marvel making an epic of their own haha, this should be interesting.

I'm inclined to agree w/Matt Cole. I don't think Marvel should make this movie because I believe it will actually lose money, regardless of who's directing or acting in it. I wish they would take that money and put it toward IM2, Captain America, and esp. The Avengers. I understand the need to introduce the characters for The Avengers (my all-time favorite title growing up), and I loved Thor WITH The Avengers, but this is one stand alone movie I could do without. I still hope it rocks and exceeds everyone's expectations.
