Nominations for the 66th Annual Golden Globes

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominations for "The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards" this morning which you can view below. The awards will take place Sunday, January 11, 2009, at The Beverly Hilton with a live telecast airing on NBC at 8 PM (EST).

I hope this question doesnt sound that stupid, but could someone tell me how does a movie get nominated for a golden globe before its released? Maybe the voters gets an advance screening I guess.

Yeah, this is a pretty depressing list... Golden Globes is like the poor-man's-Oscars, right?
I do have to say, though, that I'm pulling for Tom Cruise getting Best Supporting Actor. Powerful performance! ;-P

No love for TDK is ridiculous, but Tom Cruise for Tropic Thunder is just classic, even if I don't really think that's what he had in mind.
