USA Today has posted a new article talking about "Harry Potter" weekend on ABC Family (full schedule here) that includes a photo of Frank Dillane as the teenage Tom Riddle and more details about the sixth installment, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince:

"It's different than the other films," producer David Heyman told the newspaper. "It's not the non-stop action that some of the others are, although there is some action. It's more of an emotional film. We follow multiple stories: Harry's relationship with Ginny Weasley, Ron's relationship with Lavender Brown... There also is Hermione's discomfort with Ron's relationship with Lavender. There's Draco Malfoy's story. And then there's Harry's relationship with (Hogwarts headmaster and professor) Dumbledore. We're following these multiple stories that enrich the canvas."

And Ron discovers his newfound Quidditch talents, after thinking he had taken a good-luck potion.

"Ron is scared witless for the game," says Heyman. " So, Harry pretends to slip him some felix felices, a liquid luck potion. All of a sudden he's imbued with fresh confidence, and he's remarkable in the Quidditch match. He's performing miracles. With that comes incredible delight and maybe a little bit of cockiness."

I'm still on the fence about this one. I've been very unhappy overall with Michael Gambon's Dumbledore, and he'll have to carry a lot of this film. Seeing that he is no longer wearing his half-moon spectacles is a small thing that bothers me, it just shows to me a certain lack of attention to detail. If you disagree that glasses are an important character design element, go talk to Clark Kent...

Additionally, this was one of the weaker books in the series. It was a jumble of subplots with one or two plot threads to tie it all (loosely) together. It was probably my least favorite in the series.

We'll see.

The films have been major disappointments, which is a real shame since the cast is just excellent. Harris was better than Gambon, but I can't exactly see Harris doing the fire ring or any action, as Dumbledore's kind of athletic anyway.
The films just PALE when compared to the books, but the good thing about them is that the magic feels really good. And that's why I'll watch this one too. But if they don't handle X's death well, I'm so gonna be pissed... I heard they cut out the battle and funeral. I mind both, but the funeral more. IF the ending sucks because of this, I'll never forgive them.

WB, you have... around EIGHT months before you begin with this film, and it's already done. You pushed it back, so MAKE SURE YOU BLOODY WELL FIX EVERYTHING WRONG!! That includes screening it for audiences, who'll tell you you should've kept the funeral scene, and then ADDING IT BACK IN. Thank you.
