Tim Burton's Next is Dark Shadows?

Collider.com talked to producer Richard D. Zanuck, who says that director Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are making Dark Shadows next summer and that it's Tim's next project after Alice in Wonderland.

The film, written by John August, is based on the cult '60s supernatural TV show created by Dan Curtis. Johnny Depp would play Barnabas Collins, the vampire patriarch of the series.

With over 1,225 episodes, "Dark Shadows" was a highly atmospheric, spooky soap-opera that featured gothic horror staples like vampires, monsters, witches, werewolves, ghosts and zombies that ran from 1966 - 1971 and featured actor Jonathan Frid as Collins.

Depp should bring down the house as Barnabas Collins, and I can't think of another actor more fit for the role.

Well, if there ever was a series that Burton would be good at adapting, I guess Dark Shadows would definitely be it.

so when do we get the press release stating Helena Bonham Carter is going to be in this?

hey, **** off all you haters..especially Eric...any true movie fan knows that burton and depp would OWN this movie...depp is a sensational actor and he would do wonders starring in a dark shadows adaptation.., ive been waiting a long time to hear the official word on this...this will be AMAZING if it actually gets made..

It could indeed be great like it could be another Sleepy Hollow or Chocolate Factory or (insert least favorite Burton/Depp flick HERE): an average movie unworthy of its authors.
