Kevin McKidd Says He's a Thor Contender

Kevin McKidd, who currently stars on "Grey's Anatomy," told IGN that he's still a contender for the lead role in Marvel Studios' Thor.

The actor, most known for "Journeyman" and "Rome," says there's been "a lot of back and forth" but that nothing has been determined. He acknowledged that Kenneth Branagh is directing it, a choice that makes him even more excited about the film.

Marvel Studios is targeting a July 16, 2010 release for Thor.

I think the wrestler Edge has the perfect look, the height and physique, and has shown enough acting potential to take on the role of Thor. With Branagh to coach him, I think he cold do well.

McKidd is only 184 cm tall but he is definitely a good actor. I won't be mad if he is cast.

Alexander Skarsgaard or James Preston Rogers for Thor not bloody Brad Pitt or HHH. Some of you people have poor taste.

I like Kevin McKidd as an actor. Loved Journeyman but never saw Rome. And I'd rather him play Donald Blake. My next choice for Blake would be Anthony Michael Hall.

McKidd would be a great Thor! Just watch HBO's Rome to see what I mean. He looks like a soldier, acts like a soldier and has a automatic military bearing.
He can also ACT, which the wrestler's mentioned in this thread cannot do. Dwayne Johnson is getting much better, but thats because he's a full time actor who actually studies his craft and takes it seriously.

McKidd definitely sounds right for the role of Donald Blake. Karl Urban may fit the role if he really amps up his workout routine (just remember how Jason Scott Lee got all huge for the movie: Soldier), if they were a bit younger I would say that Jermey Irons would make a great Loki (remember him as Scar in Lion King, then you can recall his manipulative character) or perhaps Alan Rickman.
