Kevin McKidd Says He's a Thor Contender

Kevin McKidd, who currently stars on "Grey's Anatomy," told IGN that he's still a contender for the lead role in Marvel Studios' Thor.

The actor, most known for "Journeyman" and "Rome," says there's been "a lot of back and forth" but that nothing has been determined. He acknowledged that Kenneth Branagh is directing it, a choice that makes him even more excited about the film.

Marvel Studios is targeting a July 16, 2010 release for Thor.

i think it would be a great choice. they should have Cillian Murohy as loki. he was in sunshine and played the scarecrow

Yeah, cast Mickey Rourke if you want a Thor who's had repeated facial reconstructive surgery from having been beaten over and over and over again.

I like Karl Urban as well, but I think somebody earlier hit on a great possibility that actually costarred with Urban on LotR: Sean Bean. Google him and find a pic of him with longer hair. Buff him up a bit, and that's the Thor I'd like to see slamming a hammer around on the Big Screen.

I would say either Alexander Skarsgard or Sean Bean are definitely the two best choices. Karl Urban is a good actor, but I really can't see him as Thor.

However, if Kevin McKidd were to end up playing Thor I wouldn't necessarily be upset. He could probably pull it off. But still, the two BEST choices are the two I listed above.
