Kevin McKidd Says He's a Thor Contender

Kevin McKidd, who currently stars on "Grey's Anatomy," told IGN that he's still a contender for the lead role in Marvel Studios' Thor.

The actor, most known for "Journeyman" and "Rome," says there's been "a lot of back and forth" but that nothing has been determined. He acknowledged that Kenneth Branagh is directing it, a choice that makes him even more excited about the film.

Marvel Studios is targeting a July 16, 2010 release for Thor.

Good call. I like em. Would like Karl Urban more tho...think he deserves a legit franchise after his great performances in lame ass movies.

If he pumps himself up with roids and HGH, then yes I could see him as Thor.

NO where near the size. Major bulking up to do. And they better not go the sexy slim route that Superman returns did. Thor is F-ing huge. You cant slim him down. GO Marvel!

I couldn't see McKidd as Thor but I think he'd be excellent as Thor's nemesis Loki.

Now that'd be fine casting.

McKidd - inspired casting, but I think that the guy who played Butchie in "John from Cinncinnati" could handle it too

No one in Grey's Anatomy should be allowed to be in any movie or show that has the potential to be good, under any circumstances. Sorry.

I really liked Kevin McKidd on Rome and was originally all for him as Thor but i now think it should be Alexander Skarsgård.

He does a great job on True Blood and looks like Thor. Plus he can act and is 6 foot 4.
