Grazer Clarifies Nottingham Confusion

A few months ago, MTV reported that Russell Crowe was going to play both the Sheriff and Robin Hood in Ridley Scott's upcoming Nottingham. This led to many questions about how that would be possible, and now Brian Grazer has told MTV more of the plot:

"The two role confusion is that what Robin Hood does is he sees Nottingham in battle very early in the movie and Nottingham dies. And Robin Hood takes over the identity of Nottingham. Thats how it plays out." Grazer went on to call the film "an origin story" for the characters.

Grazer added that Brian Helgeland is doing the final rewrite and that shooting will start in March of next year.

Wait....so if the movie isn't about Robin Hood vs Nottingham then they r totally revamping the myth of Robin Hood and if he takes Nottinghams identity then he is no longer the underdog or an outlaw....donno how I feel about that. I do hope they pull it off tho always been a fan o Hood.

the town is named nottingham. its named after a guy called "nottingham" who robin hood sees die he then takes over his identity. the "sherriff of nottingham" is the sherriff of the town of nottingham a totally seperate character.
from what i get from what grazer said is that robin hood is robin hood he then takes on the identity of notingham "not the sheriff of nottingham" so he is not playing two charecters in the movie.

I was excited for this movie, but now, I only feel sorry for Crowe and Scott for this ridiculous film.

tony - I like your explanation. It makes sense.

Grazer and the author of this short article neglected to address that Nottingham and The Sheriff are two separate characters. The ways it's written reads as if they are one-in-the-same. It's very bad writing or their confused as well.
