Update: George Miller Still on Board Justice League

UPDATE: A representative from Kennedy Miller Mitchell tells us that George Miller did not appear on the "Sunrise Morning Show" let alone confirm anything about "Justice League" or "Mad Max." According to the representative, "The facts are indeed the complete opposite to what was reported" below...

Dark Horizons reports that filmmaker George Miller appeared on Sydney-based morning talk show "Sunrise" on Monday and confirmed he's no longer involved with the Justice League movie in any capacity.

Miller indicated that if the project does get going again, he expects that it'll be recast as "the studios seem to want bigger stars in their superhero movies now."

Miller added that he'd like to work with Mel Gibson again and while the actor doesn't want to do the "Mad Max" script he wrote, he hasn't given up on that possibility just yet.

Memo's right having a lousy script is as bad as having a bad or an uninterested director. If Miller has any real interest in this property he sure hasn't shown it lately. I know the official line is that WB/DC is regrouping.

Who wouldn't be, one of its biggest spring tent poles is smack dab in a big property rights debacle. Actors may go on strike. Last summers hit has thrown such a huge shadow on this genre that everything else in the stable is woefully small and pale by comparison! When Superman is pallid and your competition is coming on like gangbusters, who you gonna send in to fight the next rounds and how? They've got to use the time wisely and get their act together if they intend to cash in. It's shaping into a one horse race, I'm just full of euphemism today. No cracks on being full of something else please...

Even though it would be interesting to see Armie Hammer (no relation, guys -- lol) play Batman, the entire casting concept of young twenty-somethings playing the legendary Justice League is problematic. Our superheroes need to have some experience under their belts, not merely greenhorns testing the waters of crimefighting. THIS concept that Miller's trying to pitch to us is more like "Smallville Superheroes" than the adult JLA.
