Robert Downey Jr. Talks Avengers

Source:MTV

MTV has an interesting interview with Robert Downey Jr. in which he talks about the fact that Marvel Studios will have to work hard on getting The Avengers movie right with so many characters involved. But this quote is the one that got us...

"The danger you run with colliding all these worlds is [director] Jon [Favreau] was very certain that 'Iron Man' should be set in a very realistic world. Nothing that happened in 'Iron Man' is really outside the realm of possibility. Once you start talking about Valhalla and supersized super soldiers and jolly green giants it warrants much further discussion."

Interesting, very interesting! The movie doesn't hit theaters until July 15, 2011.

hmm.. interesting. i like the way he puts it. sounds like he has some reservations about being involved in anything too cartoon-y. I hope that bodes well for us, the fans.

Comics are fun, and the ones that seem to work best today are the ones set in a 'real' world setting. I also have reservations about Valhalla, however they plan on doing that...

With all due respect for RDJ, the "realism" of the first movie stopped pretty much after he built the Mk.I armor. The rest was über comic-booky. Nothing wrong with that, but pulling the "realism" card is a bit of a scam.

All they have to do is make it "look real" and everyone will be able suspend their "disbelief".

He's a great actor, but sometimes he really needs to shut up.

how can plummeting from hundreds of feets with hundreds of pounds of metal only leave you with a broken arm? how realistic is the fact that not even one bullet went through the holes in his mask in the beginning? or even how those huge armor piercing bullets barely affected iron man in the beginning to? i understand that the new suit was made with gold-titanium alloy which is incredible to say the least. but there are so many things from that movie that need to be taken into account that would really sway from RDJ's "realistic setting" i loved the movie but jeez u dont see christian bale pissing and moaning about how great tdk was and how realistic and likely the whole thing can be...

Gimme a break Downy! There was little if anything about Iron Man that was realistic. Like building a massive suit in a cave full of Talibans who think you're making a missile... puh-leez!

I for one refuse to see an Avengers film unless Spider-Man is in it. Yeah yeah, SM belongs to Sony... bla bla bla!

I DON"T CARE. GIMME MORE SPIDERMAN!!!!
