Warner Bros. Pictures has provided us with the new trailer for director Zack Snyder's Watchmen, opening in conventional theaters and IMAX. Warner Bros. Pictures' big screen adaptation of the graphic novel stars Patrick Wilson, Jackie Earle Haley, Matthew Goode, Billy Crudup, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Malin Akerman, Carla Gugino, Stephen McHattie and Matt Frewer.

A complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, Watchmen is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock" - which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union - is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed-up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion - a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers - Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity...but who is watching the watchmen?

You can watch the trailer in various formats here!

best use of a muse song in a trailer for me was time is running out in the running scared trailer. man, oh man, does this movie look amazing. Snyder, keep it up. I got a raging boner on this one.

Yes, the squid is history. I've seen one plausible story of who the (new) replacement "villain" is and what the motive is. Hardcore fans aren't going to like any changes to the GN. The ending I was told grounds the story a wee bit more strongly in the story's "reality"

it looks like in the one scene a bomb goes off. so the ending must be one of 2 things: 1. ozmandyis frames dr.manhatten or 2. he sends a certain bomb through a teleporter, kinda keeping it original to the plot. hopefully, it will be good

So much suck in such a short amount of time.

Put aside the fact that it's missing the point of the book. I kind of figured they'd have to do that. This just looks like a bad movie.

Hrm indeed.

I dunno about this. It seems like they changed a lot of things around, dialogue, motivations. The bit at the end with Doc M and Laurie seemed a bit ham-fisted. I hope they didn't have to cut this thing to ribbons to make it "palatable to the lowest common denominator," the way so many forms of entertainment are nowadays.
