Warner Bros. Pictures has provided us with the new trailer for director Zack Snyder's Watchmen, opening in conventional theaters and IMAX. Warner Bros. Pictures' big screen adaptation of the graphic novel stars Patrick Wilson, Jackie Earle Haley, Matthew Goode, Billy Crudup, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Malin Akerman, Carla Gugino, Stephen McHattie and Matt Frewer.

A complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, Watchmen is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock" - which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union - is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed-up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion - a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers - Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity...but who is watching the watchmen?

You can watch the trailer in various formats here!

Thought the trailer looked pretty cool. I can understand purists complaining about the ending but i think it was a good choice. I don't think the squid **** would have come off very well on the screen. As long as they don't change the villain it will be the same premise. There are bound to be a few changes when adapting a graphic novel into a movie. A lot of these scenes and posters i'm seeing look exactly like the Watchmen GN. Looks like Snyder is doing an amazing job. Love the Rorschach voice. Sounds perfect. Hope Comedian character comes off the way he is supposed to. And they better not take out the scene with the dogs or the pregnant woman scene.

I don't know if I'm missing something or am just not as informed as the rest of you, but I see no evidence whatsoever that suggests that the ending was changed. Sure, there's a large blue-ish explosion....but we see about 3 seconds of it. That doesn't mean that a large squid can't appear sometime after that. I'm just sayin'....

Have a little faith, my friends. Can't we just enjoy movies for what they are?

Dudes... I kno ur probably gonna get all preachy and idealistic, but what if... just what if, they decided to make Dr. Manhatten the scapegoat? Would that really take away from the story? I think it would give the overall story a more dystopian "wow, that's f---ed up" taste ala a certain character's death (not tryna spoil it for those that haven't read the GN). I always felt like the squid thing went over my head when I was reading the GN back in the day. I had to go back and bascially page surf thru some stuff in order to understand how it was constructed. Call me an idiot, but I'm pretty sure the average movie-goer would be like "wait, what..." if the squid remains in the movie.

The average moviegoer should not be thrown off by the appearance of the squid if they drop the hints as it was done in the book (with the people at the "place" and the "artwork"- trying not to further spoil)

"Despite Snyder hinting to MTV back in August that the ending of “Watchmen” would have very few (if any) changes from the graphic novel, reports from a test screening last month suggested that the film’s ending had been tweaked from the original graphic novel"

Dat ova guy, considering this and the fact BHC and HSM3 were #1 two weeks in a row last month means that the average moviegoer is a complete idiot

ive heard that they did change the ending...not too worried about that only if they do justice to the original story and have the squid in an alternate ending on the DVD.
