I've gone back and forth with this movie, especially after I read the comic. I went from being interested, to being only kinda excited, to pretty excited...to now just merely being interested again after seeing this trailer and finding out that Snyder changed the ending. I won't say it so that those who haven't read it can (get up off their asses and) go read it, but...that's pretty much taking away the point!
Not to mention that it's pretty clear from the trailer that the characters are supposed to be part of some sort of "Watchmen" team, which contradicts the point of the comic as well. I get kinda annoyed when people say "THE Watchmen." There is NO the. They are NOT a team of some kind. They're not the f**kin' X-Men. There's a reason not a single character ever even uses the term "watchmen" in the entire book; I see that Snyder has disregarded that and has Rorschach (possibly the most important character next to Dr. Manhattan) say it not once, but at least twice.
I don't mean to be a purist. But there are reasons Moore wrote the story the way he did. I'll definitely see this movie, but I'm not really looking forward to it anymore.
But damn, it looks amazing. :)
Moviegoer: With every post of yours (on multiple boards over the past week or so) I am further convinced that you don't go to the movies at all, because you don't seem to enjoy watching anything.
I do give 'internet props' whatever they are worth to Zack for standing up for alot of what he has for this movie, and i can see that they might have wanted to alter the ending "however", there is always a however, if they change it from the setup story wise as well as theme wise it will be a disaster. The setup of the ending and how it comes about is just as important if not more important then the actual final few epic pages.
The last chapter of this graphic novel contains some of the most amazing full page illustrations I have ever seen in a GN, irregardless of their content, I was surely hoping to see them brought to life in the same vein as Sin City
Ipsos custodiet.
Who watches the watchmen?
It is in the graphic novel, but not actually within the story. It is quoted in the back of the novel.
Matt T, you are correct sir. ZACK SNYDER KILLED THE ENDING OF THIS FILM. ADRIAN VEIDT SETS OFF NUCLEAR BLASTS AROUND THE WORLD AND PINS IT IN DR. MANHATTAN WHICH IS TOTAL ****ING BULL****.
