On Christmas Day, Lionsgate is release Frank Miller's anticipated The Spirit, and ComingSoon.net/Superhero Hype! has your exclusive first look at the new trailer!

Written and directed by Miller and adapted from Will Eisner's comic book series, the action adventure stars Gabriel Macht, Samuel L. Jackson, Sarah Paulson, Eva Mendes, Dan Lauria, Paz Vega, Jaime King, Scarlett Johansson, Louis Lombardi and Stana Katic.

The Spirit is the story of a former rookie cop who returns mysteriously from the dead as The Spirit (Macht) to fight crime from the shadows of Central City. His arch-enemy, The Octopus (Jackson) has a different mission: he's going to wipe out Spirit's beloved city as he pursues his own version of immortality. The Spirit tracks this cold-hearted killer from Central City's rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront... all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill our masked crusader. Surrounding him at every turn are Ellen Dolan (Paulson), the whip-smart girl-next-door; Silken Floss (Johansson), a punk secretary and frigid vixen; Plaster of Paris (Vega), a murderous French nightclub dancer; Lorelei (King), a phantom siren; and Morgenstern (Katic), a sexy young cop.

Then of course, there's Sand Saref (Mendes), the jewel thief with dangerous curves. She's the love of his life turned bad. Will he save her or will she kill him?

Who the hell wrote the script????!!!!! Every time I hear dialogue from this movie it sounds like it was written by a mentally challenged kid. And the actors all deliver it like they're in ****ing King Lear. This is not Eisner's comic...it's Frank Miller (badly) aping Sin City. Jesus Christ, why the hell doesn't a great comic deserve a worthy adaptation?

I hope this film bombs like crazy at the box office...and I really, really, really hope that "I'm gonna get il spirito deado while I still can" never, ever, ever gets repeated in a movie. Ever. Jesus Christ...

Anyone who compares this movie to Sin City is an Idiot! One thing you can expect from Frank Miller is a similar art style but a new envisioning of the genre that the story is taking place in. I understand that the Spirit may not be everyone's Bag. Frank is trying to finish something started by a Friend (Eisner). If any of you have ever seen the spirit comic, you know what to expect story wise. Frank will take the rest and make it new.
