On Christmas Day, Lionsgate is release Frank Miller's anticipated The Spirit, and ComingSoon.net/Superhero Hype! has your exclusive first look at the new trailer!

Written and directed by Miller and adapted from Will Eisner's comic book series, the action adventure stars Gabriel Macht, Samuel L. Jackson, Sarah Paulson, Eva Mendes, Dan Lauria, Paz Vega, Jaime King, Scarlett Johansson, Louis Lombardi and Stana Katic.

The Spirit is the story of a former rookie cop who returns mysteriously from the dead as The Spirit (Macht) to fight crime from the shadows of Central City. His arch-enemy, The Octopus (Jackson) has a different mission: he's going to wipe out Spirit's beloved city as he pursues his own version of immortality. The Spirit tracks this cold-hearted killer from Central City's rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront... all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill our masked crusader. Surrounding him at every turn are Ellen Dolan (Paulson), the whip-smart girl-next-door; Silken Floss (Johansson), a punk secretary and frigid vixen; Plaster of Paris (Vega), a murderous French nightclub dancer; Lorelei (King), a phantom siren; and Morgenstern (Katic), a sexy young cop.

Then of course, there's Sand Saref (Mendes), the jewel thief with dangerous curves. She's the love of his life turned bad. Will he save her or will she kill him?

Up in the air about the movie, but that's a great trailer! "Carol of the Bells" makes anything better.

This is gonna bomb so badly that it's not even funny... well it's kinda funny because it looks horribly stupid.

But it's going up against CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON, BEDTIME STORIES and YES MAN. And it's gonna be so forgotten and lost in the shuffle... jeez... why on earth would you release this on Christmas day?

It seems like everyone who talks about this movie is completely delusioned into thinking that "The Spirit" is supposed to be some kick-ass action hero or something. Has nobody bothered reading the comics? Newsflash: the Spirit is SUPPOSED to be completely over the top and unbelievable; the guy who said he kept waiting for an anvil to drop? That's almost exactly what Eisner would've done! Miller's take seems much darker and different from the comics themselves, but he's clearly retained the simplistic dialogue and overdone, cartoonish craziness.

I'm personally looking forward to this movie. More so than "Watchmen." (Yeah, that's right. What of it? Snyder's changed the ending! That's not merely stylistic license as Miller has with Eisner; that's just plain crapping on Alan Moore. So I'm not sitting on my hands till March over "Watchmen." Sue me.)

Why does every movie released these days have to be in that turned up color haze? I hate it. Even the new Bond does it, and it's annoying.
