On Christmas Day, Lionsgate is release Frank Miller's anticipated The Spirit, and ComingSoon.net/Superhero Hype! has your exclusive first look at the new trailer!

Written and directed by Miller and adapted from Will Eisner's comic book series, the action adventure stars Gabriel Macht, Samuel L. Jackson, Sarah Paulson, Eva Mendes, Dan Lauria, Paz Vega, Jaime King, Scarlett Johansson, Louis Lombardi and Stana Katic.

The Spirit is the story of a former rookie cop who returns mysteriously from the dead as The Spirit (Macht) to fight crime from the shadows of Central City. His arch-enemy, The Octopus (Jackson) has a different mission: he's going to wipe out Spirit's beloved city as he pursues his own version of immortality. The Spirit tracks this cold-hearted killer from Central City's rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront... all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill our masked crusader. Surrounding him at every turn are Ellen Dolan (Paulson), the whip-smart girl-next-door; Silken Floss (Johansson), a punk secretary and frigid vixen; Plaster of Paris (Vega), a murderous French nightclub dancer; Lorelei (King), a phantom siren; and Morgenstern (Katic), a sexy young cop.

Then of course, there's Sand Saref (Mendes), the jewel thief with dangerous curves. She's the love of his life turned bad. Will he save her or will she kill him?

I still think this looks like it might be very camp/cheesy. That is what I am fearing at the most.

I think it just looks cheesy because of the stupid Christmas lines. Starting the trailer with that Christmas song was a little ricockulous. I'm pretty sure if those elements weren't in the trailer, we'd all be humming a different tune. Then again, with the Watchmen trailer blowing this out of the water, it might be hard to judge it fairly.

Gain, I am talking about his writing. Have you read All Star Batman and Robin, its pretty crappy. He hasn't written anything good in a while and this looks like crap. I think this movie is a shoe in to tank.

Is it just me, or does this trailer remind you of Dick Tracy? Like Dick Tracy meets Sin City without Madonna's soundtrack.....

Looks rather inane. But you gotta love August Burns Red playing "Carol of the Bells" for the background music.

Still looks stupid. Once again, why didn't Miller more fully adapt Eisner's work?
