On Christmas Day, Lionsgate is release Frank Miller's anticipated The Spirit, and ComingSoon.net/Superhero Hype! has your exclusive first look at the new trailer!

Written and directed by Miller and adapted from Will Eisner's comic book series, the action adventure stars Gabriel Macht, Samuel L. Jackson, Sarah Paulson, Eva Mendes, Dan Lauria, Paz Vega, Jaime King, Scarlett Johansson, Louis Lombardi and Stana Katic.

The Spirit is the story of a former rookie cop who returns mysteriously from the dead as The Spirit (Macht) to fight crime from the shadows of Central City. His arch-enemy, The Octopus (Jackson) has a different mission: he's going to wipe out Spirit's beloved city as he pursues his own version of immortality. The Spirit tracks this cold-hearted killer from Central City's rundown warehouses, to the damp catacombs, to the windswept waterfront... all the while facing a bevy of beautiful women who either want to seduce, love or kill our masked crusader. Surrounding him at every turn are Ellen Dolan (Paulson), the whip-smart girl-next-door; Silken Floss (Johansson), a punk secretary and frigid vixen; Plaster of Paris (Vega), a murderous French nightclub dancer; Lorelei (King), a phantom siren; and Morgenstern (Katic), a sexy young cop.

Then of course, there's Sand Saref (Mendes), the jewel thief with dangerous curves. She's the love of his life turned bad. Will he save her or will she kill him?

Zombo, did you just want to be "first" so bad that you didn't even watch it before you left your comment? I'm with j...
I guess I just got spoiled by "Sin City", but this looks second rate... I hope I am proven wrong when it is released. I'll definitely see it, but it may not be until I get it for free with a Redbox Monday night code. No loss there.

Frank Miller's the ****...you can't ask what happened to him, cuz this is his first film by himself? if you're judging it by Sin City, then you're an idiot, cuz although he was listed as a director, he was really only an advisor to Rodriguez. And, if you're bashing Frank Miller's novels based on this movie, then you're an idiot. I'm not gonna say anything about this movie cuz I don't want to look as stupid as you guys already criticizing it when you haven't seen it, but I guarantee this will open a whole new gate to movie making, just like SC and 300 did...Unless you just like seeing the same old contemporary style of crime movies. But if you really want to get into that Noir/graphic novel stuff, it's a great idea to do something different...

The film looks great but every time I see a trailer I can't help but wonder why the F*** Robert is being lazy and not making Sin City 2 with Miller.

There will no doubt be endless comparisons between The Spirit and Sin City...I think this movie looks great. I'm looking forward to checking it out. What some people are forgetting is that this is not original Miller material. The Spirit is not his character. He's just taken it and given it his look and feel, which is a plus if you ask me. Go Frank, Go!!!!!

It's not that Robert is being lazy, they had several issues which held them back on making Sin City 2. One of those being that a major cast member was pregnant. In case you haven't been following the news, it was rumored/reported that Mickey Rourke declined his role and that Kurt Russell would be stepping in to fill his shoes, also rumored to have asked for roles in the film are Johnny Depp and Antonio Banderas.
