20th Century Fox is moving forward with a big screen adaptation of Gulliver's Travels, with Jack Black taking on the title role as his next project, says Variety.

Rob Letterman (Shark Tale) has signed on to direct the contemporary reimagining of the classic Jonathan Swift tale.

The story centers on Lemuel Gulliver, a free-spirited travel writer who, on an assignment to the Bermuda Triangle, suddenly finds himself a giant among men when he washes ashore on the hidden island of Lilliput, home to a population of industrious, yet tiny, people.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller and Joe Stillman (Shrek) wrote the screenplay.

Shooting will start in March.

Not bad. It'd be nice to have a new version of the Gulliver story.

Has anyone ever read my book? It seems no one can ever get beyond the lilliputians in the first book! You could think someone could create a serial film or mini-series out of it!

They did make a miniseries. It stared Ted Dansen and it was pretty good (weird when he got to the part with the talking horses).

I'm pretty sure that's just the summary up there and the actual film will include all (or most) of his adventures.

Now all we need is Jack Black to learn how to act and be funny and this will rock.

If Black is an out of work rocker and perhaps they set it in a school so he's the giant amongst little people then it may work...

Jack Black's best role has been the one in 'The Jackal". All his on screen characters should meet the same fate as his did there.

Are you all insane. JB is fantastic, he is by far one of the most accessible, funny and talented personalities in Hollywood right now. King Kong, Holiday, School of Rock, Hi Fidelity, you could go on and on with movies he has been great in. Until he puts out a bomb I will see all of his movies... including this one.
