David Lindsay-Abaire to Pen Spider-Man 4

October 31, 2008

Playwright David Lindsay-Abaire (upcoming Inkheart), who won a Pulitzer in 2007 for his drama "Rabbit Hole," is in final negotiations to write Spider-Man 4 for Columbia Pictures, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire are back as director and star, respectively, as are series producers Laura Ziskin and Avi Arad. Kirsten Dunst also is expected to return for the latest movie featuring the Marvel Comics character.

Plot details are under lock and key.

James Vanderbilt previously wrote a draft of Spider-Man 4.

Lindsay-Abaire's "Rabbit Hole," which starred Cynthia Nixon and Tyne Daly, hit the Broadway stage in 2006 and won four Tonys, including best play. The writer also is known for the play "Fuddy Meers."

oh no, hopefully not another spiderman 3 disaster. They should change it up and get Raimi to produce and another to direct. It's time for someone elses directional view. It's enough with Raimi. Hopefully he will actually put creative and artistic effort into this one and not produce garbage spiderman 3 just knowing everyone will see it no matter what bc venom is in it. I hope kirsten is replaced but we wont get that lucky.

Ballsy reporter: Miss Dunst, what makes you agree to reprise your role as MJ again? Although many people think you're the big miscast of the franchise.
Dunst: Money, money, money, money... That's why we all return. Not the sticky web of Spider-Man...

Darum, you really don't understand filmmaking & the business of film & it shows (CLEARLY!) just from your statment. I could point all them out but why bother.

-What????

- Though it suceeded in box office numbers, Spiderman 3 was a huge disappointment not only to long time fans of Spidy, but even new fans that enjoyed the first 2. Producers such as Avi Arad pretty much killed part 3 by telling Rami what to do and what villians should be in it. End results was to much characters without a proper development and a movie that is "rushed". Now I do have faith in Rami and it's ok to have the original actors to reprise their role for continuity, but I hope no one gets to "greedy" and over steps the writers and Director's boundries. Personally, I will wait for SM4 to come out on DVD, don't want to risk watching another disaster at the movies.

Wow, guess they really paid attention to the complaints about the script, which was the film's true weakness.

First the screenwriter for one of the best screenplays in years, then a Pulitzer Prize winner.

wow, liked the first one, hated the second and watched the third on a bootleg, movie sucked ass, major ass, why bother making crap like this when all we're gonna do is say it sucked in the first place, or maybe the last place... STOP MAKING SPIDER-MAN, jesus, just watch the dark knight, better movie... anybody who hates me writing this, wow, i'm only glad somebody actually read this, lol...

What about No. 5? Won't 4 and 5 have interacting storylines?

Tobey is boring and Kirsten is annoying. The only entertaining actor that are in all three is James Franco.
