Adrien Brody will star in independent action film The Courier for Arclight Films, with Russell Mulcahy directing, reports Variety.

The film will be produced by Dan Grodnick, Gary Hamilton, Tucker Tooley, Vincent Newman and Arclight's new production chief, Mike Gabrawy. Brody will executive produce with Cary Brokaw and Al Munteanu.

The script, written by the team of Michael Brandt and Derek Haas (Wanted), centers on a daredevil courier who's pursued across the country by corrupt cops and rival crime bosses when he has to deliver a briefcase to a notorious underworld figure who can't be found.

Shooting is scheduled to start in January in Louisiana and Las Vegas.

LoL, I'm pretty sure they're not going in that direction. Physically, Adrien Brody is no Jason Statham. It does sound something like a Guy Ritchie film though. Sounds cool. Brody's always trying different things and working with a variety of talented people, he's definitely one of the more interesting actors of his generation.

What makes this different than THE TRANSPORTER? You mean besides a talented lead actor and talented screenwriters?

Benjamin Bayer-Does the name Russell Mulcahy ring any bells? Highlander, Resident Evil 3, and the Scorpion King prequel. Ugh. Give me Jason Statham and Lou Leterrier any day of the week.

And on a complete side not, Statham would totally kick Brody's ass.
