Killer Films Developing William the Conqueror

Killer Films has signed a deal with the GC Corp. to co-produce the medieval action film William the Conqueror by screenwriters Brian Edgar and Derek Wallbank, reports Variety.

The script follows the rise of the illegitimate son of the Duke of Normandy to the English crown in 1066 following the Battle of Hastings.

The project marks a left turn from Killer's well-known indie projects, which include Boys Don't Cry, Far From Heaven and Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

"This is a big-budget studio movie. For many years we've been interested in a bigger canvas. It was just a matter of finding the right project," Killer Films' Pamela Koffler told the trade.

Wasn't this type of movie played out in the 80's and 90's? Boring! Been there seen that!

hopefully the filmmakers aren't expecting english speaking audiences to root for the french invaders and destructors of anglo-saxon culture... the conqueror is also known as william the bastard. for more than one reason.

Someone is jumping on the Nottingham bandwagon... so typical of film makers... one studio comes up with a good idea, and immediately the copy cats start riding the coat tails. ho hum.

I'm looking forward to Russell Crowe creating an exciting Robin Hood/Sheriff character under the guidance of Ridley Scott, thanks.

Haha!! Nottingham is delayed and with Sienna Miller still cast as Marion, a failure waiting to happen.

Wonder if we will see the Domesday Book taking shape and form.

Just so you know, Marvin, alot of Scott's movies are failures at the box office. But any informed person knows that means nothing. Scott is one of my fav. directors, and Nottingham will be amazing...just like Gladiator...just like Black Hawk Down and Legend....the list goes on and on....

nottingham was reportedly delayed because he wants to leaves to be the right color. That story might not work for any other movie, but for one being filmed mostly in the woods, that sounds pretty legit to me, and not to be taken as any indication of the movie's quality.

As for making Cornwell's 3 Arthur books into movies.. yes! I've loved those books for years and have always hoped they'd get made. Although the story is so complicated and intricate I don't know if it could ever get made. They'd be massive on a LOTR scale but without the broad appeal.

I don't want to be that guy, but unless this movie is about 8 or 9 hours long, I don't see how it's gonna be all that accurate. The months leading up to the invasion/Battle of Hastings were just as important as the battle istelf, not to mention the first couple of years that followed, with failed rebellions and all. However, I will be first in line to see it. I've spent the last couple of years studying this time period in English history and I'm hoping for the best, but not expecting greatness.

Yeah, and Ridley Scott, the so-over-the-hill bore will destroy "Blood Meridian". American Gangster sucked. It's time to move on.

Hey, Marvin; clearly you haven't seen FACTORY GIRL, or you wouldn't be so hostile toward Sienna Miller. Do your homework before slighting someone's work.
