Warner Bros. Acquires Ninja Scroll

October 26, 2008

Alex Tse (Watchmen) will write Ninja Scroll, Warners Bros. Pictures' adaptation of the classic Japanese anime feature. Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way is producing along with Madhouse Pictures and Jungo Maruta.

"Ninja" is set in feudal Japan and follows a ninja who must fight eight demonic warriors in order to save Japan. The hard-R movie, released in 1993 in Japan, featured a villain with stone skin, a hunchback with a wasp nest as his hump and a woman whose snake tattoos come to life.

Jennifer Davisson Killoran and Mike Ireland are producing for Appian, which has a first-look deal with Warners.

Dear Hollywood, please come up with new ideas for making movies. Stop making remakes, reboots, videogame movies, movies based of animes or movies based off foreign movies. Thanks

Do NOT hold back on this. I want a pure hardcore insanely violent film adaptation this film deserves.

i think they should just let japanese people make their own anime adaptations. i just saw death note and it was pretty damn good.

Dear Lord, save us now. I too am tired of reboots, remakes and the like. For ****'s sake please humor us and give us new material...oh wait the brainless people in Hollywood are in one mind set, THE PAST!

THis is promising, remember WB rarely ever bombs on sci-fi action. Look at your TOP 10 and ill be 50% will be warner titles.
The question is, CASTING!! its japan! Feudal japan, so im guessing there should be some Japanese people casted in this. I kNOW I KNOW, NS has a diverse cast. which makes it great for a flick. Im more afraid of how dreamworks with screw up Ghost in the shell
