Steven Soderbergh Making 3-D Cleopatra

Variety says that Steven Soderbergh is developing a 3-D live-action rock 'n' roll musical about Cleopatra.

He is courting Catherine Zeta-Jones to play the Egyptian queen and Hugh Jackman to play her lover, Marc Antony.

The $30 million Cleo will be shopped for financing and distribution within the next two weeks. Greg Jacobs is producing with Casey Silver.

The music has been written by the indie rock band Guided by Voices, and the script is by James Greer, a former bass player for the band and an author.

They should ask Miss Cleo star in this one, that way she could tell them it is going to suck before it actually does. May save money.

Wow, this sounds interesting...it sounds awful, but it sounds like it just might be interesting...Soderbergh doing something like this is very unusual...

I thought Moulin Rouge was the worst musical. I think this is going to be worse.

Am I the only one around here who digs Shakespeare, rock and roll, and musicals? While this does sound bizarre, it could be a lot of fun if handled right.

I'm surprised at all the negativity too. This sounds like an awesome idea for a fun movie night. Just as long as this version of "Cleopatra" isn't four hours long as well.
