Mortier Adapting Palahniuk's Haunted

Variety reports that Brian Levy has launched a management and production company, New School Media, and his first move is optioning the rights to Chuck Palahniuk's novel "Haunted."

Koen Mortier (Ex-Drummer) will adapt and direct, says Variety.

"Haunted" revolves around a group of characters who answer an ad for a writers retreat and unwittingly end up competing in a "Survivor"-like scenario, where the host withholds heat, power and food. As the storytellers grow more desperate they ruthlessly plot to make themselves the hero of the reality show or film that they expect will be made from their plight.

Palahniuk's "Fight Club" and "Choke" have been made into films, while "Invisible Monsters" and "Survivor" are in development.

I don't know about this, I loved the book... but who is Koen Mortier and why should I have any faith in him doing a good job?

Now if David Fincher was going to direct, I'd have a boner, but this is useless.

Hmm. Too big for a movie. If this were a mini-series on HBO/Showtime it would be perfect

who the **** is this Mortier person anyway??

This will never happen... the film would end up being very similar to my genitalia - huge in length and hard to swallow.

I just cant see anyone having the balls to do this as it needs to be done. Fincher is obviously going to have his name slung around any Palahniuk's properties because of Fight Club. But he aint gonna do this and I look forward to seeing more suggestions on here as to who maybe be able to handle the material....

Five choices off the top of my head:

1. David Cronenberg
2. David Fincher
3. David Slade
4. Danny Boyle
5. Andrew Dominik

Cronenberg and Fincher would never do it, but I think they'd do a great job.

Based on the description of EX-DRUMMER, maybe this Mortier guy isn't such a bad choice after all.

I'm 100 pages into the book. It's awesome so far.

I think David Gordon Green could pull it off, but I believe he could do anything.

Why is it called "Haunted" if it's about writers surviving on an island?
