Rebecca Mader Joins Clooney in Goats

October 10, 2008

Rebecca Mader (ABC's "Lost") is in final negotiations for the lead female role in Men Who Stare at Goats, the George Clooney- and Grant Heslov-produced adaptation of the book by Jon Ronson. Heslov is directing.

"Goats" is set in Iraq and centers on Bob Wilton (Ewan McGregor), a desperate reporter who stumbles upon the story of a lifetime when he meets Lyn Cassady (Clooney), who claims to be a former secret U.S. military psychic soldier who was reactivated after 9/11.

Mader will play McGregor's wife.

Stephen Lang also joins the cast that includes Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges, playing an intelligence officer.

Loved her in Justice and of course in Lost. Lost is still filming it's current season though. So what does that mean of her on the show?`

Maybe she's set to film during the hiatus.

By the time LOST goes on the air they'll be finishing up, if not done filming of the last episode of the season so I'm sure there's no complication. But even with Clooney, it seems like there's no audience for Iraq war movies. I wonder how this one will fare. We'll see how Body of Lies does this weekend.

SO.....Is this supposedly a comedy? An Iraqi comedy about pyschic goat-coveting former soldiers sounds Heeeelarious! Although I don't care much for Iraqi war movies yet (I need some time to distance myself from them), Clooney could probably sell it.

Poor Clooney. Another bomb for him. He's a great actor, but wow, he does some dogs.

the book and movie have very little to do with actual goats. It's actually a good book, but I agree that another Iraq war movie might not be what the world needs or wants right now. Unless its a movie about pulling troops out inspired by soon-to-be true events or if its a documentary set in real time. Thatd be great.
