Variety reports that director Michael Bay will film at least three action set pieces using IMAX cameras for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The trade adds that director Jon Favreau has discussed using IMAX cameras in filming Iron Man 2, while director D.J. Caruso has expressed interest in doing so for future projects such as Y: The Last Man.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen opens June 26, 2009, Iron Man 2 on May 7, 2010 and Y: The Last Man has no release date yet.

Amen MMG. Nolan has definately started something. I know that for me personally, the IMAX scenes were so incredible that of the seven times I saw The Dark Knight, five of them were in IMAX. Would have been six if circumstances outside my control hadnt forced me into a 35mm showing.

LOL ...you people act as if this would not have happened if not for Christopher Nolan and the Dark Knight.

Stop rubbing up against him like dogs and see that this is the natural evolution of film and Nolan just happen to be lucky enough to be at the beginning of it.

he wasnt the first one, there are plenty of other movies which already using 3D, and also movies which you can see in total in 3D not only some scenes, only cause Dark Knight is the most famous maybe which used it, doesnt mean he was the first one, its the same if you say george lucas invented blue screen, thanks to him

Shadow.....

TDK is the first film release to use the IMAX camera. Filming in 3D, is different to what the IMAX camera does.

Nolan did not shoot in 3D fool. He shot in IMAX.

Also Transformers in IMAX sounds horrible especially since Micheal Bay films action scenes in a horrid queasy cam style that does not look good at all on the Really big screen. But then again their's nothing to complain about really since I won't be watching that damn film.

Thanks all of you about your comments on 3D vs IMAX. That is a common mistake. Everyone always believes that anything shown on the IMAX screen is shot in a 3D format. Speaking from personal experience because I manage an IMAX theatre, Chris Nolans DK is the first feature film to use a IMAX camera to shoot part of a movie. Right now the cameras are so massive it can only be done for a handful of scenes. Hopefully in the future the IMAX cameras will become more workable where an entire film can be shot in IMAX format. These upcoming films, "Transformers 2", "Iron Man 2" and the third Batman film will use IMAX cameras for certain sequences.
