Kirsten Dunst "in" for Spider-Man 4

The recent revelation that Sony Pictures is looking to shoot Spider-Man 4 and Spider-Man 5 at the same time didn't reveal whether Kirsten Dunst would rejoin director Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire for the films.

Now, Dunst has told MTV that she'll be back as Mary Jane Watson:

"I'm in," said the actress matter of factly. However, when pressed to make the announcement official, Dunst quickly changed her tone, and rather cryptically added, "I'm not saying anything, I know there's rumors..."

The studio is targeting a May 2011 release for the fourth pic.

Ugh... i hope they take their time with this one and make it more story driven like SP2 as opposed to trying to cram so many action scenes in it like SP3

Honestly, Spider-Man 3 is, in my opinion, one of the biggest pieces of **** I've seen in a long time. I mean, as time goes on - it's getting Batman and Robin bad.

What a stupid, silly, dumbass movie. I remember not being able to shake the "what the fu*k just happened?" feeling leaving the theater...

Here's to hoping Raimi can turn his **** around. He's a semi-talented filmmaker who's had more flops than successes, I feel like Spidey 1 was very producer/script driven, hamhanded, followed the forumula, BUT worked. And his success with the amazing Spidey 2 seemed at first like unbelievable talent, but the turn with S3 really makes it seem like it was a fluke...

Kirsten Dunst was always a gross Mary Jane, and I'd rather see a younger crew take on the franchise. I know I don't want to see Spidey chasing after fu*kin' Kirsten... AGAIN. And the Gwen storyline SUCKED. So I don't wanna see her again either...

How are they going to salvage this? I'd love for them to redeem themselves.

This, in my humble opinion, is great news. Even if they want to let MJ go, she at least needs to be in there so they can wrap up that story.

Yaaay continuity!!

(as long as Mephisto don't show up)

Yo Anthony you are the man!
Spidey 3 was soo cheesy and cramed i almost left the theatre. Kirsten Dunst is a terrible Mary Jane. Mary Jane is suppose to be a super model. what the heck? Tobey was good in one and two. Three he lost me and i never thought tobey was a perfect peter but he was slightly believable. But 3 sucked so bad that i dont think there is any hope for the franchise. I wont see 4 with these same actors and directors. this movie is gonna bomb. Its really sad. Such huge potential but the actors dont fit the role. Peter is not suppose to be a geek at 30. Gwen was barely even shown and when she was the script was rediculously stupid! Kirsten irritates the heck out of me. she would be a better betty brant. But the girl they got to be betty is way hotter then kirsten. What the heck where they thinking? Megan Fox...she can't act but she is gorgeous so it makes up for it. They should have followed the story line better but They screwed it up with the symbiote soo bad and introduced Venom so early in what could have been a 6 or seven movie series that they have nothing left. the dark spiderman is a high and should have been a whole movie ending with Venom appearing then the next movie they could have focused on Venom. they messed this up huge.Black Cat should be introduced but honestly everything about this series is screwed. I dont think there will be any real fans that will watch any more of this crap. Without the real fans...Sony has nothing.

...Oh, sorry I was just having one of my "Scrubs" fantasy moments.

Anyway, I don't mind her being in the 4th one, but seriously... Dunst has to lighten up. I remember last time, she never seemed like she was excited she was in the 3rd one. You're in SPIDER-MAN movies, Kirsten Dunst! Anyone would kill to be in a Spidey movie. Stop being so unenthusiastic and boring.

If she'll lighten up, then I'm on board.

I get the feeling that we're all going to be surprised by the next Spider-Man. Considering that it'll have been 4 years, the longest gap yet between films, and considering that they have to have considered the mistakes they made with the last one, and considering the advances made possible by Iron Man and The Dark Knight, I think these next two could be fantastic.
