Some Kick-Ass Set Pics!

/Film got their hands on some cool pictures from the Toronto location shoot for Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of Kick-Ass, depicting a scene straight from the comic book by Mark ("Wanted") Millar and John ("Amazing Spider-Man", "Uncanny X-Men", you name it) Romita Jr. The scene being shot by the production's 2nd Unit is of a flying superhero being felled and crashing through a taxi cab, which comes from the opening of the story and movie.

/Film reader Dan B. depicts the scene being shot as such:

“Coming back from a Jays game happen to catch what appeared to be 2nd Unit for Kick-Ass. Didn’t see Matthew Vaughn on site. They seemed to be shooting the opening shots of the movie. The camera starts off facing the wrecked taxi and ends up on a close up of the license plate that reads ‘Kick-Ass’ Here are the shots taken with my Iphone.”

You can see a larger version of the picture above, a couple more pics, as well as a comparison from the same scene in the comic book by clicking here.

I love Nick Cage, but I really hope this film does poorly just to shut Mark Millar up for ten minutes.

I'm with Monkey. Mark Millar is a pretty good writer, but he's been acting out of his element for a few years now. Look, Mark, I loved THE ULTIMATES as much as the next guy, but you need to learn when to shut up.

Um, can someone please explain the "Mark Millar talking too much" business? I've just started to immerse myself in the world of comics and I'm becoming a pretty big fan of his. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this movie. The pics look great, hopefully this will be a hit for Matthew Vaughn and he'll get bigger movies.

Millar's been talking about in interviews and blogs about his various film projects, including a huge Superman trilogy that is way to ambitious to get made, that he arrogantly keeps saying will get made and we will here an announcement in a few weeks. (he says that every interview about it. That last one was about a month ago)

That's why I'm so torn with this movie. Nick Cage is a great actor and Matthew Vaughn is a great director.

The only thing I'm worried about is that they don't center the movie around Nic's charater. I'm sure he's the biggest movie star in it but hopefully they don't change the story so he has a "bigger part". I hate when they do that!

mark miller is a over rated. red son, the ultimates, and wanted were good. but i don't think he's done enough ground breaking work to be considered one of the greatest comic talents ever. i laugh so hard when i hear him regarded as a prestigious writer. MARK MILLER IS TRYING REALLY HARD TO BE FRANK MILLER! i think he over indulges in the violence and dialogue which is exactly what frank is known for. can anyone else see this?!
