25 Minutes of Half-Blood Prince in IMAX 3-D

The last time we had anything to report on Warner Bros' Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, it was the decision by the studio to move the highly-anticipated sixth installment to next summer from its original release date in November. As disappointing as that may have been, fans who enjoyed the 17 minutes of IMAX 3-D sequences in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix should be thrilled by the fact that there will be even more 3-D for the next installment.

Last month, during the IMAX Corporation's 2008 Q2 Earnings Report conference call, Rich Gelfond, the Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of the IMAX Corporation told shareholders, "we believe this film will include approximately 25 minutes in IMAX 3-D split between the opening sequence of the film and the finale."

It'll be almost ten months before we'll see which sequences exactly will be in 3-D, but who knows? Maybe we'll even see a bit of 3D Quidditch next time.

In the meantime, you can watch the teaser for the IMAX teaser trailer which played with The Dark Knight here.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will open in IMAX and conventional theaters on July 17, 2009.

I like how 'warnerbrosucks' prefaced his argument against HP fans by saying, "I am a fan."

And learn to use punctuation, moron.

I thought 1 and 2 were good, 3 and 4 were awesome, and 5 was bad and 6 has great potential to suck. I think they lost the "magic" (lame).

C'mon who really cares when the movie comes out? If you're a fan you'll enjoy it whenever they release it. Yeah I'd like to be able to see it in November, but I'm perfectly happy waiting until next summer. And as WB says, that just means a shorter wait for part 7. So all of you who are crying about WB moving the movie, relax. It's not the end of the world.

I am extremely disappointed with WB's move regardless of business decisions and moreso with the direction taken for this upcoming movie. 1 and 2 were very close to the book but overall not very spectacular (I like Chamber of Secrets MUCH more than Sorcerer's Stone, which just...is boring). Prisoner of Azkaban was incredible and Goblet of Fire, while flawed, is my favorite because it perfectly captures the energy and excitement I felt reading this book. Order of the Phoenix prior to Deathly Hallows was easily my favorite because of the awesome character development, the bonding together...it was all just awesome.

This movie had none of that.

There so many moments where they could have just thrown this in or that to really juice it and they just didn't. I mean, the final scene with Dumbledore and Harry could have had so much energy, with Harry throwing crap all around and Dumbledore actually EXPLAINING what the focal point of the film meant instead of vaguely spitting it out.

And now...no funeral. No fight. In fact, Dumbledore looks like a sissy bi***. He froze Harry to save him and in doing so sacrificed a move for Draco to immobilize him. Sure, it was a plan, but...now he just looks pathetic. Just...never mind. Never mind about this movie. I'm not too excited.

Go Watchmen.

I like how people complain that Radcliffe is going to be too old by the time the series is over yet he's not even 20 and in Deathly Hallows he'll be playing an 18/19 year old. He'll only be a few years past that by the time the movie comes out.

It's not like this is the Karate Kid where by the last one the 'kid' was in his 30's.

Of course, this only appeals to American's. Not many other countries have IMAX screens. **** you, Warner. Once again you take more biased actions and hold the privilages America gets with this film above any other country.

The only half-decent Potter movie is Prisoner of Azkaban. That's because they got a good director in, instead of the hacks that have made the other ones.
