Paul Verhoeven to Direct Erotic Thriller

Basic Instinct helmer Paul Verhoeven is in talks to direct the untitled Wendy Miller thriller for Relativity Media.

The story centers on a college intern who finds himself trapped in a dangerous affair with the boss's wife. Variety says the project is described as Risky Business meets Fatal Attraction.

Relativity, which picked up the script in May, has fast-tracked the project and is eyeing a first-quarter 2009 start date. Miller is penning a rewrite under Verhoeven's direction.

Paul Verhoeven + SCIFI = GOLD

he needs to get back to directing scifi movies. I missed his personal touches on those. Robocop and Total Recall are great classics.

A bit of trivia about Verhoeven... he has a master's degree in math & physics. I doubt too many in Hollywood have that kind of amn educational background.

Ive heard and read many stories from actors in Hollywood saying that Paul Verhoeven is the biggest douche and perve there is.

Polly: Paul Verhoeven is a douche? That's a new one. He's the most talented Dutch director of his generation and has made some great films: Turks Fruit, Keetje Tippel, Soldaat van Oranje, Spetters, Flesh + Blood, Robocop, Total Recall, Starship Troopers, Black Book. I was at a talk he gave at the Edinburgh Film Festival a few years ago and he is one of the most intelligent and cultured film directors i've ever had the pleasure of listening to.

Try and get your facts right Polly, and don't rely on scuttlebutt.

Yeah, Dolph is quite the prodigy according to his imdb profile: Was on a scholarship to MIT before decided to take up acting. Speaks 3 languages.

Danica McKellar, the actress from "The Wonder Years" is a math whiz. Even has a theorem co-named after her.
