Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer have acquired screen rights to "Killing Rommel," a novel by Steven Pressfield.

The book, about a British battalion's attempt to thwart German Field Marshal Erwin Rommel's desert campaign, was published in the spring by Doubleday.

Variety says Randall Wallace (Braveheart, Pearl Harbor) will write the script with Pressfield. Bruckheimer will produce.

"Killing Rommel" focuses on the British Long Range Desert Group and its attempt to stop Rommel, the legendary Desert Fox who routed the British in the North African desert in 1942 and threatened to overrun the Middle East thanks to his battlefield strategies and Panzer tanks.

This will be interesting to see. I'll totally be seeing this film.

It's more likely that Disney will release this film through Touchstone Pictures, though.

I actually read this book a couple of months ago. Pretty good - it features a lot of tank action in the desert, cat and mouse chases with Nazis in the desert, etc. It should be good.

they dont dumb everything down you moron. Disney just isnt the place for extreme blood and gore or sex to the max. Which Im thankful for because a movie shouldnt revolve around that stuff.

Hopefully they don't rewrite history like Hollywood did with "U-571" and actually depict the events as they happened.

Yeah great! everyone will believe, that erwin rommel was the evilness in person. no one will know, that he was involved in the assasination of hitler. my grandparents are friends with manfred rommel, erwin rommels, they told me that rommel wasn't allright with hitlers military meassures in poland and russia. he also wrote hitler a letter in 1944, to end this awful war. if not he will himself capitulate. therefore he was forced to suicide.

but its ok. you all won't change your point of view about us germans. you will allways see us as nazis.
