Downey Jr. and Fey Voicing MasterMind?

August 27, 2008

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) and Tina Fey ("30 Rock") are in negotiations to voice characters in DreamWorks Animation's MasterMind, scheduled for a November 5, 2010 release.

Produced by Ben Stiller's production company, Red Hour Films, the film is a satirical send-up of the superhero genre, built around the story of a super villain who must find a new motivation after accidentally killing his archrival, Uberman, in the opening scene of the movie.

MasterMind is based on a script from Alan Schoolcraft and Brent Simons and will be directed by Gary Trousdale.

Sound hilarious to me, if it's done without getting too dark. As for Mystery Men, it wasn't exactly an Oscar-worthy film, but it's good for killing about two hours and lots of brain cells. You can do the same thing at a bar, but the movie won't get you a DUI.

The movie is going to be amazing if DreamWorks doesn't change the story 12 times like they normally do. Also, they have been developing this story way before Dr. Horrible ever came out.

Wait, Downey thought there wasn't enough lame jokes in Iron Man, so he had to star in another superhero "comedy" as well?

As for Dreamworks, I gotta say I liked Kung Fu Panda but their other animated films are totally insipid IMHO.

Wow, Downey's career is in complete revival mode. Iron Man doing gangbusters at the box-office, an awesome performance in Tropic Thunder, a possible Oscar-turn in The Soloist, the lead role in the upcoming Sherlock Holmes movie, and now voicing in a Dreamworks film. DAMN.

Just so we're clear: IMHO stands for "In my humble opinion". Your post was not a humble opinion in any way. It was an obnoxious attempt to seem smart by downing Iron Man, a movie that the majority of movie-goers loved and by using a pretentious word like "insipid". You know what's insipid? People who actually use the word "insipid".
