Nicolas Cage Boards Vaughn's Kick-Ass

August 22, 2008

Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson and Lyndsy Fonseca are set to star in Kick-Ass, Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of the violent Mark Millar comic book, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Written by Millar and drawn by John Romita Jr., the Marvel Comics' Icon imprint book centers on a high school dweeb named Dave Lizewski who decides to become a superhero even though he has no athletic ability or coordination. Things change when he eventually runs into real bad guys with real weapons.

Johnson plays title character, while Fonseca plays the object of the teen's infatuation who believes Dave is gay. Cage is a former cop who wants to bring down a druglord and has trained his daughter (Chloe Moretz) to be a lethal weapon.

Christopher Mintz-Plasse is also in the cast.

A fall shoot in London and Toronto is planned.

Wow, did anyone else notice that report might have just ruined the next issue or two of the comic? Cage's character hasn't been introduced yet, and I'm sure his weapon of a daughter was the cliffhanger of the last issue.

Yeah Kevin you're right, that sucks.. Unless they're going a different way to it like they did with the Wanted movie.

Either way, casting Nicholas Cage just gave me a reason not to go watch this one and stick to the comic.

Also, I love the way that they pick a really goodlooking actor to play the "high school dweeb". All hail Hollywood and it's perfect casting choices..

Those kids in the movie were much younger than these actors, why the hell can't those dumb studio execs just stick to the story line. Wanted was CRAP!!
