Goosebumps Feature Gets Two Scribes

August 18, 2008

Writing duo Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander are in negotiations to write the live-action big screen adaptation of the children's horror series "Goosebumps" for Columbia Pictures, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Neal Moritz and his Sony-based Original Film is producing as is Scholastic Entertainment's Deborah Forte.

While straight-to-video versions of the R.L. Stine book series have been made, the project will mark the first feature adaptation of the series and could become a franchise for Columbia, which acquired the rights in May. The "Goosebumps" series have grossed hundreds of millions for Stine and Scholastic, second only to the "Harry Potter" series.

Moritz has said he likely will cast youngsters for the leads and then include well-known actors in supporting roles, a la the "Potter" films.

No ****ing way....GOOSEBUMPS the MOVIE? This has to be a joke. Why Goosebumps?

Okay, ill be a kid for a second. If you're gonna do Goosebumps the movie go with the first book, or was it second? I think it was called Monster Blood. It had like 3 sequels.

Hell, after this i'm expecing an Animorphs movie. It was way better than Goosebumps.

agree's with Filmstu2005

seriously! the show was not even scary! it was just... pathetic

but if they're going to do this then they need to use the best book of the series (if such a book exists).

No.. Don't embarass yourself.. If anything, write a brand new story to make it a real scary movie. Not a scary 'tale' like Goosebumps. The NAME will draw old fans and the marketing will grab new ones.. My personal favorite was a Day in Horror Land but I think everyone elses was the Night of the Living Dummy

The books were, like, 100-120 pages long if I remember correctly, so maybe this'll be an anthology?
