Katzenberg Planning 3rd Madagascar, 2nd Kung Fu Panda

August 14, 2008

DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg expects at least one additional "Madagascar" sequel after Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa and said that the studio, as was previously rumored, has also begun talks aimed at creating a sequel to its summer hit Kung Fu Panda.

Katzenberg said "Escape 2 Africa" is the "second chapter in one story," adding that "there is at least one more chapter. We ultimately want to see the characters make it back to New York."

An announcement about a Kung Fu Panda sequel could come within two months.

"We've started conversations about it, and I think in the next 30 or 60 days, we'll be able to talk completely about that," Katzenberg said.

Kung Fu Panda has earned $560 million worldwide. In 2005, Madagascar took in $530 million globally.

Chris, Madagascar is an island, so how can it be part of a continent? Just like the British Isles. Yes, geopolitically, they're part of Europe, but they're not really part of the continent, are they?

As for the Dreamwork/Pixar comparison...Well, Wall-E was the last of the mythical original projects that the team came up with at that first sit down. So, expect more and more sequels from them as well. TS3, Cars 2(seriously, who the f'ck needs a sequel to Cars?!) and, if they have any sense, they'll do a sequel to The Incredibles before they do Cars 3.

Didn't they saw that Kung Fu Panda was gonna be a TV series on Nick? As 4 Madagascar 3, I don't know if it will be good.

Madagascar was stupid, only to me, because of childish story and boring characters. Other DreamWorks' movies are boring too, and very forgettable.
But I like Kung Fu Panda, he's so awesome, I'd like to see a sequel probably in 2011.

MADAGASCAR SUCKED SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!! no more sequels for that movie.

kung fu panda was funny. i would not be mad about a sequel for that. but only 1 sequel, no more after that.

oh and by the way, let shrek die, no more movies, the 3rd one wasnt that funny, just leave that franchise alone.

I would love to see a Kung Fu Panda sequel. I thought it was one of the best animated movies this year, second only to Wall-E. KFP had a good story, was honestly funny, and ended with a very good message that all too many people forget these days.

If a sequel can maintain that, then I eagerly await it.

For some odd reason everybody makes sense on these post. I would personaly love to see a Kung Fu Panda sequel put to my knowledge there were some "people" who got offended that the panda's father was a crane and called it an insult. Now, I dont know when the world got sensitive but if anybody should be offended, it should be me for Disney to make that F@#*ing Chihuahua movie.

I Have a Hard time stomaching that someone thought Madagascar 2 was a Good Idea. Kung Fu Panda however, I'd Love to See. I could Also see a "Legend of the legendary Warrior" (The Po story at the Start of the film) as a Saturday Morning Cartoon
