Wolfenstein Movie Still in the Works

Almost exactly a year ago, it was announced that producer Samuel Hadida has secured the rights to the video game "Return to Castle Wolfenstein," with Roger Avary attached to write and direct the adaptation of the id Software property. The duo had previously worked together on video game adaptation Silent Hill.

id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead told Eurogamer that the project is still in development, saying that "with the writer's strike it took so long to get underway and Roger Avary, the writer, had a commitment that was in line before working the Wolfenstein stuff, but I've recently been in contact with Roger and he's actually working on the script right now."

The WWII-set "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" revolves around U.S. Army Ranger B.J. Blazkowicz, who leads a team of agents into Castle Wolfenstein in order to investigate the Nazis' SS Paranormal Division.

Since Silent Hill was so awesome we get another masterpiece from the duo.

I'll still keep optimistic... but it's never a good idea to get high hopes for a video game movie.

You message board **** talkers never figure out how stupid you actually sound do you? I can't think of a thing more redundant than voicing an opinion no one cares about on a medium no one pays attention to.

Since Silent Hill was the only quality project of recent years tackling video games (as opposed to lame Resident Evil movies and other childish cash cows) I'm fairly optimistic.

I just hope they will go for the hard R rating with exploding nazis, and not shy away from the gore. Avary is hit-and-miss as a writer (and failed to convince me as a director) but I have a feeling this is the perfect material for him. Not to mention that Wolfenstein and Inglorious Bastards will at last dust off the WWII films. About time.

Although underrated, I thought Silent Hill was a good movie. It will be cool to see what they come up with this film. As for Rob Zombie smack talk, everything isn't for everybody. At least he's making movies while you're sitting at home *****ing about what he's doing (and I'm sure watching his movies).

Wolfenstein was an amazing computer game. The movie could be bad ass (full of Nazis, treasure, man eating dogs, etc.) but it will probably just be terrible like Doom.
