Prince of Persia Pushed Back a Year

Walt Disney Pictures has moved the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time out of its June 19, 2009 release date spot (which would have been a week before Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is opening) and has pushed it back almost a year to May 28, 2010, which is the week after Shrek Goes Fourth is scheduled and a week before Marvel Studios' Thor.

With Memorial Day being observed on May 31, 2010, the movie would have a four day opening, unless it debuts earlier in the week.

The Mike Newell-directed video game adaptation stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Alfred Molina and Ben Kingsley. Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

Oh Yes, Oh No.. the good news is that transformers will earn more money now, due prince of persia! and the bad news is that it is going to open in 2010! i wanted to watch this movie for so long. and again, this will make less money because of thor and shrek 4!

Wow! It looks like one movie studio is scared of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I don't blame them either. I felt sorry for the movies opening before The Dark Knight (like Hellboy II: The Golden Army). But from a business standpoint, I understand why Walt Disney Pictures is doing it... I just don't like that it is basically a year later. Now we have to wait longer for this movie! It is good that it is after Shrek Goes Fourth, and I am not putting a lot of stock in Marvel's Thor right now. I wonder why they couldn't simply move the release date further in the Summer of 2009?

I wonder why it was pushed back. A week after Shrek, even if those movies are losing their charm, and a week before Thor isn't exactly a good time for an adventure movie to come out. It's going to lose out to word of mouth shrek fans and lose it's second weekend to another action/adventure/fantasy movie.

A year though.... why?

To people who only comment to say they don't care...

If you don't care about the topic, THEN DON'T READ AND COMMENT ON THE ****ING ARTICLE TO ONLY SAY YOU DON'T CARE.

Get off the internet. You're not wanted here.

On-topic. The movie sounds interesting, but I agree that they don't want to go up against Transformers 2.
