Mike Myers Penning Austin Powers 4

July 31, 2008

Mike Myers has been developing a fourth "Austin Powers" movie for quite a while now. In May of 2007, he said:

"We're developing a fourth [movie], entirely from Dr. Evil's point of view. That is part of what I've been doing in the last little while."

Now, Deadline Hollywood Daily has a few more details on which direction Myers is going:

I'm told that Mike Myers has started writing Austin Powers 4 which will be a homage to his father. "It's very personal with a father and son theme loosely based on his own life," an insider tells me. As Myers has previously said, this fourth installment of the super spy spoof movie series will focus on Austin's arch-villain Dr. Evil, who was based on Blofeld of the Bond films. But what hasn't been known is that the AP4 plot is really about Dr. Evil and his son (introduced already as Scott Evil, played by Seth Green).

The site adds that Myers is co-writing again with Michael McCullers, who collaborated with Myers on the second and third installments.

Of course he's writing another one. After the catastrophe that was "Love Guru", he has to go back and suck up to his fans and offer them what they all wanted in the first place.

Isn't it funny how stars are doing that nowadays? Especially Vin Diesel. He wouldn't do XXX2 but now that he's washed up and forgotten, he's gonna return for XXX3 because that's all that'll get him somewhat noticed again. Same with Fast and the Furious...he wouldn't do the last two (except for a little cameo in number 3) but now once again since he's a big garbage dump of a loser, he's going to go back and try to capitalize on what made him famous. What a joke.

I'll bet we'll be seeing Ashton Kutcher in Dude, Where's My Car 2 in 3 years...

Mike Myers needs to go away and hibernate in the Himalayas for a couple of decades.

Austin Powers really went down hill with the 3rd one, but i think that myers desperately needs to do something before his career disappears.

It's a franchise which is what... 10 years old now i think? but i have hope that this one can turn it around for him.

All he needs to do is pull the over the top stuff back a little.. the 3rd was way over the top, and just because stupid to a point that you couldn't enjoy it.

Hey maybe it's time for Waynes World III as well :D

Experts abound!

The three previous movies were great for a laugh, I welcome a 4th outing.

@EthanEverett

Kutcher is making buku bucks with his production company. And for a sample of his exceptional acting skills (which i doubted going into the first example) check out Butterfly Effect and The Guardian. The guy's not bad at what he does.

What's this about XXX3?? never bothered with 2... 3 I'll check out. As far as him dumping on FATF 2, he wanted Riddick, man. Riddick was his baby, anybody else would've done the same thing. Now that FATF is back to a serious tone and Riddick is likely dead, of course he'll go back to it.

It's called managing a career. There's nothing wrong with it.

Looks like Goblin was right in Spider-Man, the only thing they love more than a hero is to see a hero fail, fall, die trying.

Come on.. root for the entertainers to keep on entertaining. You guys are all bass turds.

I thought the 3rd AP movie was way better than the first two. Gold member was choice! I always wanted to see a 4th one, esp. with the ending of the 3rd with scott taking over. I think it will be fresh.
