Marvin the Martian Feature in the Works

Variety says Warner Bros. is developing a Marvin the Martian feature at Alcon Entertainment, with principals Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove producing along with Steve Crystal.

The project will blend live action and CGI.

Marvin was created by Chuck Jones and made his first appearance in a Looney Tunes cartoon in 1948. The character was often intent on blowing up the Earth, only to be foiled by Bugs Bunny.

Crystal, a former Warner executive with a first-look deal at Alcon through his Charlie Co. banner, developed the pitch as a Christmas story, with Marvin coming to Earth to destroy Christmas but being prevented from doing so when he's trapped in a gift box. Alcon’s out to writers and directors.

Love the idea of a Marvin the Martian movie, but the plot sounds lame.

I agree. Marvin is awesome, but making it into a christmas movie is a bad idea. They should just stick with the the tried and true 'earth exploding' goals he's always had. 'Blowing up Christmas'? Okay whatever
I guess we'll see.

If it's fun, then whatever. I just fear that they're just using this as a test for a live-action Looney Tunes (CGI and NOT hand-drawn) film. I'm just not sure if that should be allowed.

I almost never use this cliche, but it seems completely appropriate at this point:

What are they smoking?!

It sounds like they've intentionally wasted a perfectly good idea for a movie. I'd rather see "Marvin the Martian" as an "Independance Day" or "War of the Worlds" spoof rather than a "learns the true meaning of Christmas" piece of crap. That's made-for-TV material right there.

WB is trying to imitate Marvel by bringing one by one of their iconic characters. In the end, there will be a movie with all the characters, and it will be known as THE AVENGERS TUNE.

You guys want what I'm smoking? XD

So let me get this straight. They want to do a CG/live action movie, with a popular 2D character, and have it be some lame Christmas story?
Hell. No.

I agree. I love Marvin. But if they do decide on it, they definitley need to change the plot.

Well, who knows, the plot may sound lame, the script maybe sharp as anything. Though I agree with Chris, an alien invasion spoof would be so much better. But I love Marvin.

That is the weirdest, most stupidest movie idea I've heard in a long time.

"You see, we have this billion dollar Looney Tunes franchise, but lets just take a second-rate character and give him his own Christmas movie"....HUH? If you are going to give a Looney Tune his own movie, at least start with Bugs or something, so its organized.

Or better yet, MAKE A SPACE JAM 2.
